Just like you have to know your product, you have to know your industry as well. In today's world, there is no excuse for not knowing! There are trade magazines, websites and resources galore. If you google your own industry, you'll likely have hundreds of hits. Do it! Just for fun! Once you do, you will know what your competitor is doing as well--learning about the industry in which you both work. Don't let them get the upper hand. Do the hard work of learning your business.
